Damasio is head of the department ofneurology at the University of Iowa and adjunct professor at the Salk Institutein La Jolla, Calif.A pioneering scientist,researcher and author, Damasio has studied critical problems in the fundamentalneuroscience of mind and behavior. His work has led to a better understanding ofthe neural basis of decision making, emotion, language and memory.Damasio’s first book,“Descarte’s Error: Emotion, Reason and the Human Brain,” has been published inmore than 20 countries.His presentation is partof the Friends of Fondren Library’s Distinguished Guest Lecture Series atRice.For more information,call (713) 348-5157.
