No detainees will be visible due to privacy reasons and probation department officers will route tour groups through an empty detention cell.Probation department officers plan to discuss techniques and coping strategies for serving time in a juvenile detention center as well as how a renovated ward in the facility boosted morale for detainees. Tours are available in English and Spanish, last approximately 45 to 60 minutes and generally attract thousands of families, youth and school clubs and other visitors, according to a county spokesperson.The probation department will hold tours at the county’s juvenile court and detention center at 2851 Meadow Lark Drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Partners of the county and the probation department will host booths outside the facility offering programs and resources for families concerned about juvenile crime. last_img
