Social Work orientation organized at MANUU

first_imgHyderabad: The Department of Social Work, Maulana Azad National Urdu University organized an Orientation Programme for newly admitted students of Master of Social Work (MSW) from 9th to 21st August. Prof. Mohd Shahid, Head, Dept. of Social Work while introducing the programme emphasized the need &importance of the orientation programme for the MSW course. He viewed Knowledge, Skill and Attitude as the core components and opined that the department would be committed to inculcating the same through classes, concurrent fieldwork practicum, and skill lab exercises. The Medical Officer, Urban PHC, Hakeem Shah talked about the primary health system and services for the community. He also stressed the role, a social worker can play in providing better health services to the marginalised section of society. Dr. Farzana Khan, Programme Head, My Choices foundation pointed on issues of domestic violence and child sexual abuse. She encouraged students to work for women’s issues. Mazhar Husain, Director of COVA discussed the empowerment and capacity building of the marginalised section of society. One day workshop on the usage of participatory techniques in the field of social work was also organized.
