I think they bat really well but our fielding cost us. And after that dropped catch he came out all guns blazing,” Dinesh Karthik said post the defeat.Bairstow was dropped by KC Cariappa as early as the second over, much to the disappointment of debutant Yarra Prithviraj. He was given a second chance in the 12th over when Harry Gurney at fine-leg could not get a hand to the ball. Third time, it was again in Prithviraj’s over when Piyush Chawla squandered a tough opportunity that came his way.Speaking off the missed opportunities , Karthik said, “A wicket of Bairstow would have felt better, feel for the guy (Yarra Prithviraj). We have been outplayed in this game.””Having said that our bowling has been off colour in the tournament. Our fielding needs a lot of improvement too,” he added. It is to be noted that Kolkata’s one of the key bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav has been struggling to make a mark in IPL 2019. The wrist-spinner was dropped on Sunday owing to his disastrous spell of four overs wherein he conceded 59 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday.advertisementThe Chinaman conceded 27 runs in his final over. Kuldeep’s replacement KC Cariappa failed to impress as he was taken to the cleaners by David Warner.Karthik said that it was required to give Kuldeep a break for his strong return in the remaining games.”We had to give Kuldeep a break and get him back fresh.”Kolkata are currently place at sixth in the points table with just four wins in the played ten games. They will next face Rajasthan Royals on Thursday. Also Read | SRH vs KKR, IPL 2019: Warner and Bairstow hand Kolkata 5th straight defeatAlso Read | Sri Lanka serial blasts: Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar condemn ‘act of terror’Also SeeFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
