On Saturday, ESPN’s College GameDay was in Pullman for the battle between Oregon and Washington State. While the focus was on those two Pac-12 teams, Kirk Herbstreit made headlines for his take on the UCF Knights. It wasn’t an outlandish statement from the ESPN analyst, but it definitely infuriated the UCF football team.Despite being 7-0 this season, the Knights aren’t receiving much love from Herbstreit. Instead of praising the program’s success, he’s questioning its strength of schedule.“You need to play somebody in order to be rewarded. UCF, you need to not just be worried about being undefeated and trying to get in the top four, you need to look behind you at teams like Utah State, Appalachian State, Fresno State. These teams, on paper — which is what you want to look at a lot of times — are better than UCF and more deserving than UCF.”The team’s official Twitter account was quick to respond with this post:Hi @KirkHerbstreit pic.twitter.com/5wKKG4gINZ— UCF Football (@UCF_Football) October 20, 2018It’s becoming very clear that Herbstreit isn’t fond of UCF’s schedule. However, that could change when the Knights face South Florida and Cincinnati at the end of the season.Besides, the team continues to win on the gridiron and on social media. Once again, the team trolled Herbstreit, but this time it was on Instagram. The next game for UCF will be against Navy.
