The respondents were ordered to show by what authority they hold office.The Court of Appeal ordered 49 members of the new cabinet to appear in court on December 12th to respond to the petition. The Appeal Court has issued notice and an interim order against Mahinda Rajapaksa and his Government, preventing them from acting as Prime Minister, Cabinet and Deputy Ministers. Parliamentarian Mahinda Rajapaksa has rejected a Court of Appeal ruling on his cabinet and has decided to challenge it in the Supreme Court.Rajapaksa’s office said that his lawyers will file the appeal first thing tomorrow morning. Rajapaksa said that only the Supreme Court can make a determination on the Constitution.
